When it comes to being mobbed on a return to Manchester, he's not the first person who springs to mind.
But that's exactly what happened to former City owner Thaksin Shinawatra when he turned up at the Etihad Stadium.

The Thai businessman bought City for £82million in the summer of 2007. He quickly aimed high with the appointment of Sven Goran Eriksson and the arrival of several expensive acquisitions.
However, City failed to shine under their stewardship and just over a year later the club was sold to Sheik Mansour for a reported £200m.

The former Thai Prime Minister was later in trouble with the authorities in his homeland, where he was found guilty of corruption and sentenced to two years in prison.
Shinawatra was in the cheap seats on Monday night and happily mingled with fans who asked for photographs and autographs.
But City fans will hope that is as close as he comes to power back at his old club.
