Thailand's first female prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra has been presented with an Honorary Doctorate at a ceremony in Auckland.

 

Ms Yingluck, who was elected in 2011, arrived in Auckland yesterday for her first official visit to New Zealand.

This evening, Auckland University of Technology presented her with the Honorary Doctorate for her prominent role in the international arena and her position as the first woman to be voted Prime Minister in Thailand.

 

Ms Yingluck met with Prime Minister John Key yesterday to discuss strengthening close ties between the countries.

Tomorrow, She will visit a Fonterra dairy farm in Karaka, touring the rotary milking plant and livestock.
